David Widener Selected Insurance Committee Chair of the National Association of Waterfront Employers

MOBILE, Ala. - The American Equity Underwriters, Inc. (AEU), the leading provider of workers’ compensation insurance for waterfront employers, announces Managing Director David Widener has been selected Insurance Committee Chair of the National Association of Waterfront Employers (NAWE) and will assume responsibilities effective May 1, 2022.

Widener joined AEU in 2019. He began his longshore career in 2003 with F.A. Richard/American Equity Risk Services, where he was a claims supervisor for eight years. He joined the U.S. Department of Labor as a claims examiner in 2011, and was promoted to District Director six months later, overseeing operations for the Houston District Office.

It supports the industries that deliver the goods we rely on daily,” said Widener. “It’s an honor to serve this organization. I’m looking forward to supporting NAWE’s goals and working to improve the overall industry environment so maritime employers can thrive.”
