MOBILE, Ala. - The American Equity Underwriters, Inc. (AEU), the leading provider of workers’ compensation insurance for waterfront employers, announces Managing Director David Widener has been selected Insurance Committee Chair of the National Association of Waterfront Employers (NAWE) and will assume responsibilities effective May 1, 2022.
Widener joined AEU in 2019. He began his longshore career in 2003 with F.A. Richard/American Equity Risk Services, where he was a claims supervisor for eight years. “NAWE is critical not only to the maritime industry, but to our entire way of life. It supports the industries that deliver the goods we rely on daily,” said Widener. “It’s an honor to serve this organization. I’m looking forward to supporting NAWE’s goals and working to improve the overall industry environment so maritime employers can thrive.”
“David has been an active contributor to our insurance committee efforts as well as his involvement in the Association to help us reach our goals. We look forward to his leadership in the coming years,” said Lauren Brand, President of NAWE.
